"Life in all its fullness" John 10:10
Our bespoke curriculum is based around God’s world. Each half term the children will learn about a new country. The curriculum has been planned very carefully to ensure that the children follow the National Curriculum whilst also learning about the culture of each country and other themes that our school community feel are important such as climate change. Please see our long term, medium term and skills and knowledge maps. An important part of our school culture is teaching the children to realise the importance of looking after and experiencing God’s world through practical experiences.
At Stanton-in-Peak Church of England Primary School we believe that outdoor Learning is a process that helps and facilitates more than knowledge-gathering, it helps learners develop socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually. It creates a safe, non-judgemental nurturing environment for learners to try things out and take risks. Outdoor Learning inspires a deep and meaningful connection to the world and an understanding of how a learner fits within it. At Stanton-in-Peak Church of England Primary School we are firm believers that the great outdoors and religion should not be two different entities but should be united. After all, God created the world, this world, and it is up to us to use it well and look after it.
Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food." And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day. - Genesis 1
Our aim is to provide a child centered curriculum that is broad, ambitious, inclusive and inspiring for ALL learners. We ensure that our children feel safe, secure and empowered to be risk takers whilst respecting others. We encourage our children to use the Christian values, knowledge and skills learnt to make their own path and decisions, becoming courageous advocates and honorable British citizens. We want to inspire a lifelong love of learning along with a sense of responsibility to become well rounded adults that contribute positively to society thereby fulfilling our vision of "Life in all its fullness".
Our creative curriculum makes meaningful links across subjects and inspires a lifelong love of learning. We will encourage children to be actively involved in their learning, co-operating with each other and asking questions to clarify thinking and deepen understanding.
The school is dedicated to developing the holistic child and, with this in mind, opportunities to grow within and beyond academic subjects is of great importance. We promote positive mental health and well-being and provide opportunities to enhance our children’s life skills, social skills and cultural awareness.
